A recorder on site is only useful as long as it survives. If an intruder takes the NVR, or it is damaged by fire, water or a power surge, the footage you needed most can disappear with it. Ajax has now extended its Cloud Storage service to its wired cameras, so key video events can be stored safely off-site.
What's new
Until now, Ajax Cloud Storage was available only for the DoorBell and the IndoorCam. It now covers the Ajax wired camera range as well. The service does not record around the clock: it saves short clips linked to security events, which are detected with AI object recognition. When something happens, you get a notification and can open the clip straight from the app.
There are two plans, each activated per camera:
- Economy: lighter event clips at 576p, enough to see what happened.
- Premium: high-resolution event clips, up to 3K on 4/5 MP cameras and 4K on 8 MP cameras.
Both plans are offered with 7-day or 30-day storage, and each clip by default includes a few seconds before and after the event.
Why it matters
Ajax describes two ways to use the service. On higher-risk sites, the NVR keeps recording continuously while the cloud keeps a copy of the critical events, so evidence survives even if the recorder is lost. On small or spread-out sites, such as a kiosk, a small branch or a warehouse, cameras can use cloud storage without an NVR at each location.
For installers, activation works the same way as for Ajax Wi-Fi cameras, and plans and settings are managed remotely from the Ajax PRO apps.
